The motto of Grow Diversity Talent In Technology! Event was a powerful quotation by Abraham Lincoln: “Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle.” When it comes to the diverse employee, the necessity of taking the extra step in order to achieve goes without saying. The goal of the event was to pass on information strategies and methods to help the diverse employee with career management and personal branding.

Keynote speaker Linda Parker Pennington’s presentation focused on how to implement key talent and organizational strategies to ensure career success. Next, in a workshop with Nancy Douyon, attendees learned how to employ different cultural ideals and cultural practices to widen their opportunities. The questions asked was how to find a balance so a professional can represent diversity while making sure their professional online reputation is in line with their personal brand objective. This is an ongoing part of the mission of DVRSTY-STEM Accelerators as well.

Beyond having a chance to connect and exchange information, the event also included a lively panel discussion with representation in all of the STEM environments. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. By focusing on these areas together, the skills and knowledge in each discipline essential for business success are highlighted.

As part of an ongoing series hosted by both GRI Technology Solutions and the nonprofit DVRSTY-STEM Accelerators (DSA), the Grow Diversity In Technology! event demonstrated Charlotta Carter’s ongoing commitment to fostering success while enhancing diversity.
